'We Have to Talk' Interfaith Event
We Have to Talk ... about Faith, Art, and Fascism
Join interfaith leaders from across Southwest Pennsylvania on May 21 for a private tour of the murals of Maxo Vanka, an artistic treasure located inside Saint Nicholas Church in Millvale. Painted in 1937 and 1941, the dramatic murals depict the stories of Roman Catholic tradition through the experience of the Croatian American community, including economic injustice, government repression, and the devastation of war. After our tour, we'll gather in the church hall for refreshments and conversation, exploring how the themes of Vanka's vision can inform our leadership in this historic moment.
To learn more about the murals and the funding needs they are currently facing, check out this report from WESA.
Our tour is limited to 25 people, so register now using the form below. There is no charge to participate, though donations to offset the cost of our tickets ($15 adults, $13.50 seniors) are appreciated if you are able; click here and note "Vanko tour" in the "special instructions to the seller" section.
This event is intended for spiritual leaders: clergy and religious and those holding lay leadership roles in houses of worship and faith institutions across Southwest Pennsylvania. Let's come together. We have to talk.
